Arizona Trail Camera Laws

Are trail cameras legal in Arizona? Yes, as long as they are not being used to hunt animals, you can use them.

There are currently only a few laws concerning the use of trail cameras in Arizona. In 2021 trail cameras were almost banned in Arizona. However, the law was adjusted and only bans the use of trail cameras for the purpose of helping or aiding in hunting animals. If you are using trail cameras on private property, you have to get permission to put them up prior to set up. It is illegal to put trail cameras on military bases or property of any kind. If you come across any trail cameras as a reminder it is illegal to touch, remove, or take the footage off the trail cameras without consent from the owner of the trail camera unless it is on your property. If someone has set them up on your private property reach out to your local wildlife officers for assistance. As a reminder Laws update yearly. Make sure to check your local wildlife laws before you put cameras up!

There are currently a few options on the table which are, starting a trail camera season and banning them completely. The final ruling on these new laws will be in May of 2021.
