Trail Camera Won’t Turn on

There are times your trail camera won’t turn on. It can be super anoying and hard to deal with. This is 3 reasons why your trail camera won’t turn on.

#1 SD Card Problems

Some trail cameras have a setting programmed into them to not turn on if the SD card is not in them or if the trail cameras are not reading the SD card. This can be caused by the SD card being too big for the trail camera or the SD card is corrupt. There are a few different reasons this might happen. It might be that the SD card is not all the way in. If you would like to read more about SD card problems click the trail camera SD card button below.

#2 Batteries

Sometimes the problem can be the batteries you put into the trail camera. Some batteries do not work with trail cameras. For example, some trail cameras do not work with batteries from the Rayovac. These batteries can even cause overheating in some cases that can be potentially damaging to trail cameras. Some of these off brands of batteries can be cheaper but might also be contributing to problems. Batteries also can leak, this can leave battery acid on the metal pieces and can interfere with the battery’s connection. if you clean these metal pieces the batteries will be able to work in the camera. Also, another basic thing to check for is if the batteries are put in the correct way. Sometimes rechargeable batteries do not work with trail cameras either.

#3 Some Trail Cameras are Crap

Some trail cameras simply do not work. There are many different brands of trail cameras and choosing a good one can be rough. Some trail cameras will initially turn on but if programed incorrectly will not turn on again. Trail cameras can also have bad weatherproofing. We have had some cameras have water seep into the trail camera through the rubber water sealant. If water gets into your trail cameras, you can put them in rice to bring out the water.
